On March 4, 2006, The Hiphop Archive at Stanford University hosted an invited conference, Know-The-Ledge: Hiphop Scholarship Meet Hiphop Media. Over sixty of Hiphop's most influential scholars, educators, journalists, and artists whose work focuses on some aspect of hiphop art and culture met to discuss the relationship and conflicts between academic and journalistic reporting, writing and representation of Hiphop. u_net was among the invited participants in the panel entitled: This is Grown Folk's 'Real' Business: Community, Identity, Pheminism (Feminism), and World Hiphop.

While in the Bay Area, u_net had the chance to meet and interview Lyrics Born and Chief Xcell (Blackaliciuos) on their Hip Hop stories, on their latetst productiona and collabos and on the history of the Quannum Project. Thanks to Isaac (Distribution) and Sarah (Promotion), u_net was able to discuss about the reality of independent labels in the contemporary music market. From the Bay Area to NYC to meet the Universal Federation for the Preservation of Hip Hop Culture. Strong feelings/mixed emotions where running through my body while meeting the legendary Africa Bambaataa, Zulu King Yoda (Krash Crew), DJ Disco Wiz (1st Latino Hip Hop DJ), DJ Toni Tone (Cold Crush Brothers) and Joe Conzo (Hip Hop Photographer). Chilling in Bk, I had the pleasure to interview a young, groubreaking producer, Waajeed, who created the beats for some track on Slum Village's first albums and last year produced the highly acclaimed album of Platinum Pied Piers.

Main Flow: Main-Flow perhaps one of the most skilled and ambitious MC's on the Hip-Hop scene. Main Flow worked with artists such as Hi-Tek, Talib Kweli, Black Thought (Roots), Killah Priest (Wu Tang Clan), Dj Greyboy, Defari, Mos Def and Dr Dre's smash hit producer Scott Storch to name a few. Division X: Hailing from the rugged streets of the South Bronx, Division X has been one of the budding success stories of the New York independent Hip Hop scene. Proudly emphasizing an original in your face sound, and a thought provoking rap edge, this three man group consists of lyricists North Star, Mad Dog, and turntablist DR. Dust. Check the interview. On April 8, 2006, the infamous squatt COX18 will be hosting a Hip Hop event focused on the origin of this cultural movement: Art is not a Crime, 1977-1987. Henry Chalfant will be presenting in COX18 the European premiere of his documentary Mambo to Hip Hop - a South Bronx Story explores for the first time how music helped create a community and how community triumphed - and the Art is Not a Crime slideshow and a Q&A session with the audience. The photo exhibit, in the words of H. Chalfant, "tell the story of those years, how kids with little in the way of manufactured goods and organized activities were able to improvise with a boundless capacity for invention and create a new youth culture that continues to reverberate around the world".
