As y'all know u.net is working hard to meet the deadline (december07) to finish his new editorial project, Renegades of Funk, an oral history on the early days of Hip Hop culture in the Bronx. Renegades of Funk (slated for publication in May08) features interviews with a number of pioneers (DJs, Bboys, Writers and MCs) who shared memories on how it was back in the days.

As a side project, u.net released, along with his homie Paper Resistance, and illustrated biography of George Jackson (Soledad Brothers). This 16page bio will be part of the new edition of the book Blood in My Eyes by G. Jackson, which will be published next november by AgenziaX. In collaboration with the Inguine collective, u.net wrote an essay based on his interview with revolutionary artist, Emory Douglass, Minister of Culture of the Black Panther Party. This article will be published in Inguine MAHgazine.

During the last week end of November (23-25 november), u.net will attend the Black Soil International Hip Hop festival, in Rotterdam. Next to the presentation of movies inspired by DJs, graffiti, MCs and break dancers, movies derived from Hip Hop will be shown, as well as movies which have served as a source of inspiration to Hip Hop artists and to movie directors. In addition to films, Black Soil offers an extensive program, including panel discussions, workshops, afterparties with live performances of prominent DJs and artists.

Chuck D - Public Enemy: One of hip-hop's most commanding and instantly recognizable voices, Chuck D has influenced an entire generation of fans and artists alike. Frontman for Public Enemy, a group known for their revolutionary, pro-black/anti-government lyricism and groundbreaking production, since the days of the Spectrum City Sound System Chuck D has always stayed very active not just musically but also working on a wide range of alternative projects, including a solo album and an autobiography. He co-runs two websites/online labels (Rapstation.com and SlamJamz.com), writes for various press outlets, hosts a radio show and he lectures around the US. Chuck D used the musical platform to transcend beyond what a rapper and a musician can do, taking a forward stance in turning great words into global community action. u.net and Chuck D talked about PE's latest album, How You Sell Soul to..., which also marks their 20th anniversary. The MC Mell'o'/ DJ Pogo Experience: Both UK Hip Hop pioneers shared with u.net their memories on the early days of Hip Hop culture in the UK. The 80s, Black urban communities, reggae sound system, Hip Hop, Covent Garden, DJ Nutriment, the warehouse party scene, the first records and labels and the Jus Bad Crew. This is the first raid into the early stages of the Uk Hip Hop scene. u.net is trying to present how Hip Hop started spreading from the US in different countries in the early 80s and how has affected the youth. The words of MC Mell'O' and DJ Pogo will highlight how Hip Hop was interpreted and adapted by black teens in London. In the next newsletters, I'll go on presenting the memories and reflections shared by other artists such as Jonzi D, Benji Reid and Hanifa Queen aka Bubbles. Keep on checking hiphopreader.it! Come molti di voi già sanno, sto lavorando intensamente per portare a termine entro la scadenza pattuita (dicembre 07) il mio nuovo progetto editoriale, Renegades of Funk, una storia orale sulle origini della cultura Hip Hop nel Bronx. Renegades of Funk (in pubblicazione per il maggio 2008) include interviste con oltre venti pionieri (DJs, Bboys, Writers and MCs) che hanno deciso di condividere ricordi e riflessioni su quei giorni.

In collaborazione con Paper Resistance, ho scritto il testo per una biografia illustrata di George Jackson (Soledad Brothers). Questo interessante lavoro di 16 pagine di immagini e parole sarà incluso nella nuova edizione del libro Con il sangue agli occhi, di prossima pubblicazione per AgenziaX. Per il collettivo di Inguine, ho scritto un saggio su Emory Douglas, Ministro dell'informazione del Black Panther Party. Da oltre venti anni sulla scena, Chuck D rappresenta una delle figure di riferimento per un'intera generazione. Il rapper dei Public Enemy, gruppo noto per l'impostazione rivoluzionaria e il credo nazionalista nero, è da anni impegnato a diffondere cultura e conoscenza. Il suo impegno in porgetti collaterali lo ha visto pubblicare un disco solista e un'autobiografica, collaborare con siti e etichette digitali (Rapstation.com and SlamJamz.com), condurre una trasmissione radio e intervenire in numerosi eventi.
